High 5 netball is played with 5 players on court, and up to four off-court roles.

High 5 can be for mixed or single-sex teams with a maximum of two boys on court at any one time.  A key part of High 5 is players rotating round positions. This means that all children get to experience every position on court.

Training is on a Tuesday 3.30pm - 4.15pm. For more information please see Miss Giles.

Netball club has been running again for most of the Autumn term, for Year 4, 5 and 6. Miss Giles has tried hard to fill the very big “trainers” left after Mrs Edwards’ retirement at the end of last year and is capably helped by Miss Jefferies. The first training session of the year saw a HUGE turnout, with up to 40 children attending the club! During our training sessions we have learned the different passes used in Netball; how to shoot; how to dodge; our different positions and most importantly…the rules - which we are trying really hard to stick to! We have all worked really hard (so hard that Miss Giles has forgotten to take any pictures – watch this space next term!) and made the selection of children for the competitive Netball team, a headache. We currently have an ‘A’ and ‘B’ team who play in the West Swindon league against 8 other schools and so far this season we are top of our league, having not lost a game! In order to be successful, we have collaborated well as a team, demonstrated lots of resilience and have always shown respect for our opponents. We have also had a great deal of support from parents and teachers alike – thank you – and are fast developing our very own Shaw Ridge fan club! In the Spring term we are looking forward to playing our remaining games in a smart new netball kit, kindly sponsored by Richard James – look out for pictures and our match reports online!
