Governors

Role of the Governing Body

We are a group of Volunteers with representatives from parents, staff, the local community and the Local Authority. We have three main roles:

The ‘Strategic Role’ means we are involved in determining the school aims and future direction, including setting targets for pupil achievement, agreeing policies and how the school budget should be spent.

Our ‘Critical Friend’ role means we ask challenging questions, offer suggestions and monitor progress.

Our ‘Accountability’ role includes applying ‘best value’ principles and ensuring that parents have the information they need both on their child’s and the school’s progress.

Our key purpose is to ensure that the school provides the best possible education for all the children. We support the staff as they continually refine the ways they monitor pupil progress to ensure every child achieves their full potential.
